During this year's May Day holiday, the large-scale Yellow River-themed immersive sound drama "Up and Down the Great River" made its stunning debut at the Hualin Grand Theater in Quancheng Oulebao, Dezhou, Shandong! This work, with its grand narrative and majestic momentum, not only showcases the magnificent epic of the 5,000-year Yellow River civilization, but also, relying on the internationally leading immersive sound reinforcement system of Soundking brings an "immersive" audio-visual feast to the entire audience of 3,200 people.
Hualin Grand Theatre, with its 62-meter ultra-wide stage, 18-meter ceiling height, and 3,600-square-meter grand auditorium, stands as a rare ultra-wide indoor theater in China. However, faced with such a vast space, intricate stage design, and stringent demands for precise sound positioning, traditional sound reinforcement systems prove inadequate.

Compared to traditional sound reinforcement systems, where sound energy mainly comes from the front of the stage and only a few "emperor seats" of the audience can experience accurate positioning of sound image, the Hualin Grand Theatre presents a subversive auditory experience in terms of the width, depth, and height of the sound field. The sound energy is evenly distributed throughout the vast sound field, with astonishing clarity and fullness. Moreover, no matter where the audience is seated, they can accurately capture the displacement of actors and the precise positioning of sound effects. Coupled with highly creative choreography, mechanical and special effects visuals, it creates a deep immersive audio-visual experience that traditional sound reinforcement systems cannot achieve, making every audience member feel as if they are immersed in the historical long river of the Yellow River, deeply shocked, moved, and unforgettable by the historical scenes.
Immersive sound processor
The system is equipped with the CP32 immersive audio processor from the high-end British brand CADAC. Its computational core utilizes the HOA (Harmonic Oscillator Analysis) spherical harmonic immersive sound
algorithm and operates with an FPGA processing mechanism, ensuring that no additional redundant data is generated during long-duration operations at high frequencies, thereby affecting the overall system stability. Furthermore, the digital vertical audio link system doubles the efficiency of project debugging and delivery. The immersive sound processor upgrades the original two-dimensional 5.1 format audio source to three-dimensional immersive sound effects through rendering, greatly enhancing the audiovisual immersion of the entire performance and providing the audience with an extremely thrilling theatrical experience.

Main sound reinforcement system
The main sound reinforcement system for the stage utilizes the SPECTRA 212 three-way full-range line array loudspeakers from Kling & Freitag (K&F) in Germany. Depending on the specific application scenario, this series of loudspeakers can be used as point-source loudspeakers or as horizontal or vertical line array loudspeakers. Their unique multi-group mode is fully utilized in this project, with loudspeakers on both sides of the stage forming a horizontal line array to cover a wide area. The loudspeakers directly above the stage switch to a vertical array mode as a center channel, providing precise and stable positioning of sound image. This loudspeaker is paired with the K&F D series digital network amplifier, ensuring a stable and reliable system with excellent sound quality

To ensure that every audience member can enjoy an excellent immersive listening experience, the system utilizes dozens of E-series point-source loudspeakers from Studiomaster (Recording Master) in the UK. These loudspeakers are carefully arranged the left, right, rear, and top of the auditorium, collectively creating a highly enveloping surround sound field.

Facing the challenge of a net depth of 52 meters in the auditorium (twice that of a conventional theater), several Soundking G310 dual 10-inch three-way cross-line array loudspeakers were installed on both sides of the theater's catwalk level as supplementary loudspeakers to ensure the listening experience of the audience in the back rows. Their wide frequency response, customized neodymium magnetic drivers, high dynamic range, and lightweight design, combined with coaxial mid-high frequency drivers and front-loaded horns, provide precise directionality, high sensitivity, and low distortion. The specially adopted plane wave conversion technology, utilizing a 90° constant-directivity horn, ensures that even distant audience members can enjoy a clear, full, and energetic sound experience.

To present the majestic momentum of the surging Yellow River, multiple Studiomaster E218 dual 18-inch subwoofers were vertically stacked on both sides of the stage, providing deep and powerful subwoofer energy.

Reliable power guarantee
The power amplifier is the driving source of the sound system, which utilizes the Studiomaster QX series amplifier for driving. Its key feature lies in its redundancy backup capability: when the main amplifier fails, the backup amplifier can automatically and seamlessly switch within 10ms, ensuring zero interruption of the performance. The built-in high-performance DSP processor, coupled with intelligent network control software, guarantees long-term stable operation of the system.
