TECHNICAL INNOVATION & PRODUCT DES IGNS Produced a steady stream of technical innovations including a new form of directional-control
horn, improvements in transducer construction, several forms of electronically steerable arrays, and most recently - a suite of digital signal processing techniques that radically improve the clarity of professional loudspeakers - marketed as Gunness FocusingTM.
Designed speaker systems, DSP control systems, horns, woofers, coaxial transducers, & crossover & equalization circuits for the touring sound market, the consultant/contractordesigned installed-sound market, the commercial market, the music-store market, and the studio/recording market. These products have been sold under the EAW, Mackie, Electro-Voice, Altec-Lansing, & University Sound brand names. Some notable examples are: EAW: KF900 Series, BH760, MQ Series, LA400, nearly 100 horns used in over 200 products; Electro-Voice: EVX “A”-Series woofers, MT-2 concert systems, Altec-Lansing: 950-8A duplex loudspeaker, VIR& VIT variable-intensity horns.
FIELD WOR K , INDUSTRY A C C E S S
Assisted consultants, contractors, touring sound companies, and international distributors on dozens of high profile project commissionings and/or tunings of touring systems for live events. Notable examples: Promise Keepers’ Tour (averaged 55,000 attendees), Stand in the Gap (1.1 million attendees), Olympic Stadium (Athens, Greece), Dodger Stadium, St. Peter’s Square (Vatican City), Camp Randall (University of Wisconsin), Heinz Field (Pittsburgh Steelers), Papal Audience (Toronto, with 1.5 million attendees).
Established access to key players, and attained a high level of respect and recognition from both customers, engineering peers, competitors, and potential employees - by way of these field projects, advice given to system designers, delivering technical papers at AES conventions, contacts made at trade shows, and regular visits with key customers.
